We were looking for a affordable sushi restaurant to celebrate my bro's birthday. I heard Sakae was not bad other than Sushi Zanmai (around this price range). We can apply for membership (RM20) and use it on the spot. As a member, we can collect 50% of our total nett spending as credit for future use during birthday month. There were quite many people that time, when we went in, the staff was cleaning the table with a cloth having very strong musty odor making us feel nausea. This strongly needs improvement. This restaurant provides menu in Ipad instead of printed menu. This might be convenience to some customers but not for all because we have to take turn to view the menu. They should provide both menu instead. We ordered a Unagi Bento(RM20.90++) for parents as they prefer Chinese-like cuisine. I think the food aren't prepared fresh because the Unagi is quite dry. They should have more sauce to eat with the rice. The Chicken Teriyaki Bento (RM10.90++) is still ok but the tenderness of chicken is quite tough.I ordered a Tempura Moriawase(RM13.90++) which literally means chef's selection on what's fresh on that day. There's eggplant, capsicum and carrot inside.I also ordered a few plates of fried Scallops (RM3.99++). It's served hot and the scallops are fresh and well fried. We ordered a few of Sakae Chawanmushi (RM3.99++). It's served hot, the taste is not bad too, but just a little bit too salty. We can get the sushi from the sushi belt, but instead we ordered from the menu to have the freshest food. But quite many of the sushi here are quite disappointing me, especially the Salmon Sushi. The salmon is cut too thin, and hence we can't really taste the salmon. For the Tempura Sushi, the batter of the tempura is too thick, affected the texture of the tempura. What I don't like is that the staff places the two plates of same sushi onto one single plate just to make their job easier. Some other sushi are just normal. I ordered a Spicy Salmon Mayo. This is quite poor as the spice has overwhelmed the freshness of salmon. The Oyster Mentai is quite not bad, the oyster is fried but maintaining the freshness of the oyster. Member can order one plate of Ika Mentai at RM1 instead RM7.99. This dish is not bad. It's fresh squid with mentai on top.Sashimi is a measurement for a a standard of a Japanese Restaurant. We ordered a few plates of Salmon Sashimi (RM9.99++) . The sashimi here are quite poor too, as it's cut too thin. Green tea (RM2++).All food are subject to 10% service charge 6% gov tax. continue reading

Gyoza is japanese term for dumpling. It serves as good bite size snacks. The gyoza are lightly pan fried till the skin becomes slightly golden brown and crisp. The skin for this gyoza was not too thick. The filling for this gyoza was minced chicken meat and some scallions. The chicken filling was juicy and slightly salty, and the scallions were fragrant. Eaten with the dipping sauce which taste like black vinegar with a hint of sesame oil. continue reading
