So, it actually is possible to get good durian cendol in KL. And a big portion, too. I like the fact that they serve their gula melaka syrup on the side, so you can put as little or as much in as you need. Needless to say, I eventually finished the whole little pot of it. It's very thick, and just the right amount of sweetness. A small problem with it being so thick is that it quickly freezes (due to low water content) when in contact with the ice... but I'm not complaining. The durian is fresh durian and not the artificial variety. Also, the restaurant is air-conditioned, so that's a big plus point in our Malaysian weather. continue reading

They are offering set lunch which comes with a free drink and soup of the day.Soup of the day was watercress soup it taste nice which reassembles my mum soup. The drinks were cincau water and it absolutely tasteless !Nyoya Fried Rice taste like normal fried rice taste but what makes it feel like a old traditional nyonya taste was the raw onion, sour mango slice and the lime itself especially the raw onion. Nyoya curry noodle is only smell that give us a big smile but the taste does not up to par and it is basically tasteless. Not going to order the curry noodles. continue reading

Melaka Street Restaurant has been years operating at SS2. It is quite famous for lunch and dinner for people who work nearby. Many annual dinners or corporate lunch held here as the restaurant is Halal. They serve set lunch during noon at only RM10.00 nett, with a bowl of soup of the day, mains from a list of rice & noodles choices, and ice lemon or melaka cendol. They will serve different soup each day from the choice of watercress, lotus peanut, carrot soup etc. Their soup is really well boiled, very rich in taste. Hot lemon tea. This is the only restaurant so far i tasted the most thickest lemon tea. Seriously its super thick in taste and extremely sour. Anyone's face will turn ''sour'' drinking this. Seriously nice.Pineapple fried rice. It looks so yellowish and delicious with the pineapple taste. Both pineapple and chicken char siew are cuts into cubes size. There are yellow raisins too that enrich the taste. Best is I don't see a layer of oil at the bottom of the fried rice which some fried rice do. continue reading
