That day at lunch with my friend at Jaya One, she ordered the Katsudon which is just fried chicken fillet over rice with a soft boiled egg. I quite like her order over my beef one because the meat was nicely flavoured from the batter and also perfectly crisp. So over a bed of hot rice with a perfectly poached egg which you would break then let the yolk coat each grain. Then for added flavours we also added a little bit of soya sauce and also the dried chilli oil that was provided. The portion at the price of Rm11 is pretty substantial. Plus if this isn't enough for you then you have additional sides as an add-on for no more than a couple of ringgits, so that would most definitely make your meal more filling. Can't wait to be back for a good hearty meal and also a good chat with my best friend. continue reading

Spicy miso udon is one of my favourites. Before this, I do not specially like to eat udon but once i tried Marufuku's udon, I just love it. So far, it was one of the best udon for me and the waffles with green tea ice cream worth to give it a try if you like something sweet.  continue reading

So, after all these years, through the hype period and through the quiet lull, this place is still standing, despite being tucked away in a quiet corner of an even quieter area that attracts mostly a night crowd that doesn't tend to eat udon at night. And their udon is still good, and still cheap! The serving of tasty (albeit slightly chewy, but not overly chewy) beef is a lot! And the gravy is salty and savoury, but it hints of MSG. The udon is fresh, silken, and slurpy; with half-boiled egg as lubricant.Excellent stuff for just 10 bucks! continue reading

Desserts are almost a universal language to make people happy when having any meal. This time around, I tried Japanese dessert and I love the texture of it.. This is called the Dango. It is a glutinous ball with sweet red bean. It kind of reminded me of the Taiwanese mochi, but without the fillings. Mochi normally have sweet fillings on the inside. But this one has nothing in it. continue reading
