When I passed by and saw this quaint restaurant, my eyes was somehow attracted to the name and decor which I saw from the outside through the glass panel. I saw that the table cloth is red chequed. When I went there to look at the menu and cost on whether it was over my budget, I immediately decided to enter it for good. I love the ambience which bears resemblance of the old house. The furniture is mostly whitewash wood. There are seats at the side with small cute lovely cushion pillows with flowery pattern. All the lamps were very quaint and unique and antique-looking with some flowers too. On the wall, near the ceiling, are shelves containing some plants and small decorations. All the decor reminds me of houses of the olden days. The whole restaurant was full of people by the time our dinner arrived, probably because this place is new and many people are trying the food here. We ordered the Snow Pear Aloevera Juice (RM 6.90) which was amazingly refreshing and cooling and not sweet at all. The main dish was their signature Stuffed Fish with Minced Pork (RM 26) which turned out to be a disappointment. This is because the fish was not real fish. In fact, it is something like those lobak made with minced pork and probably a little fish and grinded together. Then it is arranged to resemble a fish by stuffing the inside of a fish head and that is then deep fried together with the lobak. Seriously not worth the RM 26 which I could use to eat a big steamed fish at the kopitiam outside. The chilli sauce is incredible. The Beancurd with Pumpkin Sauce was normal and not worth the RM 14 price tag. The beancurd was not silky smooth enough like what I used to eat at kopitiam/dachao/restaurants. The sauce was also too little and was like a pumpkin puree that was blended beforehand. I wonder whether it is possible to come here again just to eat the best sambal of all together with plain rice. Impossible! The restaurant proprietor will definitely kick us all! But the sambal is admittedly the best I have ever eaten and not as spicy as the Penang Sambal. And the best part is it is not as oily as the way KL kopitiam/cafes normally do it. Every time I asked for second helpings of sambal, the waiter would bring together half a lime and when squeezed into the sambal, the result is amazing. The whole bill came up to RM 52.40 which we felt was unreasonable since the fish was not real fish and the beancurd was not as tasty as the one at the kopitiam. Probably we had to pay for the price of ambience.  continue reading
