Today is a hot one. Probably not the right temperature for a steaming bowl of hot noodle soup, but that has never stopped me before.Since my first few visits to KL in the early 2000's, i've walked past this nondescript stall a hundred times without bothering to go in and try the food. Having decided this time to try and only eat at new places, I figured it was high time to give the Beef Noodles here a go.The place was packed. Promising. I had to share a table with an old man reading comics. I ordered the special beef ball soup and watched as the waiter ran frantically around the shop hurling bowls to impatient customers. Delicious soup. First taste of the broth, spot on. Tremendous amount of flavour from a soup that looked so "thin". The two types of noodles were both excellent, the pieces of beef succulent and tender. The beef balls too were surprisingly good. At 1 Euro 50 for a bowl, you can hardly get a better or cheaper lunch anywhere. continue reading

Whenever I crave for some good old beef noodles, I would head to Soong Kee for some because this restaurant has been around since before the country's Independence. I guess they perfected the recipe for beef noodles because today they are still going strong and have moved from a side walk shop into a shoplot. I always ordered the dry noodles which comes with minced beef on the noodles and served with a couple of strands of green vegetables for garnishing. And of course not forgetting the beef balls which comes with soup. Their noodles must be handmade because their texture is springy and does not have the chemical aftertaste of some. Of course the minced beef is what gives the noodle extra taste with its special marinate which is full of spices. And I really love the beef balls here which are also very springy and it is a real pleasure chewing into each piece with the meat well marinated to give just the right flavour and super delicious. Some food are worth visiting again and again. continue reading

This was considered my second visit to a beef noodle place in KL. The first I tried was not too bad, but this was definitely the MUST GO for me.For the price of RM7, you get a bowl of kon lo mee with minced beef, with a bowl of beef meat or mix beef. For a non organ lover like me, I opted for meat and beef balls only. The beef balls was not tough at all, and very bouncy. As for the meat, I could have mistaken that it was pork! It was so smooth and silky that I could slurp it into my mouth. And oh, don't forget about the chili! It was a great combination to the dish! continue reading
