What I love most about Esquire Kitchen is that it's probably one of the most affordable Chinese Restaurants around. As in good food in air-conditioned environment without high price tag :-) It's hard to missed their presence at Ground Floor IOI Mall, especially if you're passing by Fitness First My favorites in the menu are the Dong Po Meat (eaten best with mantou dip into its' sauce), Fried Shanghainese Noodles (yummy), Zha Jiang Mien (with crunchy carrot and cucumber) and of course not to mention their Siew Baos taste great too. continue reading

I like to eat dishes that come with braised sauce. The sauce itself is good to eat with rice. Like this braised bean curd, I like the overall. From the presentation till its taste. When the dish is served in front of you, the sauce is so brings up your appetite. The sauce is a mixture taste of sweet and very mild salty. Then the bean curd was deep fried till the outer layer is crispy skin, but the inner layer still remain soft. continue reading

A more wallet-friendly eatery for this season is the venerable Esquire Kitchen, which has branches scattered in malls across the Klang Valley. Salmon yee sang, a midsize serving for about RM40. Esquire Kitchen features one of the cheapest CNY sets around, about RM150 for six people, kicking off with Shanghai-style fried rice cakes. Sweet corn soup with vegetarian "shark fin" soup, the conscience-friendly choice. Fried chicken with herb sauce. Everything on the set is OK; not incredible, but not inedible. Sweet-sour garoupa. Bean curd with pumpkin sauce. Crunchy veggies. 'Luo han gao' with white fungus. Perhaps the least sugary version ever. continue reading

The stir fried brinjal is another must-order dish in Esquire Kitchen. This dish came with generous portion of brinjal with minced meat stir-friend with spring onions. I must say that the spring onions were a bit too thick though which made it slightly difficult to eat the whole thing. The brinjal were soft and hot, slightly salty, but it was fine. The minced meats were soft and tender. The whole dish was slightly oily but still bearable. Despite that, it was a very delicious dish. continue reading
