Hi there foodies... Today’s post is going to be about this amazing little treasure find, my friend and I discovered on a day out in KL. After a long day of shopping, we were looking for a nice and cozy place to grab a cup of coffee and catch up. My friend recommended me about this popular café somewhere in Fahrenheit88 and me, being the eager beaver on trying new places, insisted we go there. We eventually found the place without any effort. This cafe is easily to be found in Fahrenheit88.
“The Coffee Stain by Joseph” as the café is called, is located on the level 3 of Fahrenheit88. I'm personally not really familiar with all these fancy coffee lingos and ended up staring at the menu for quite some time before making a decision. The menu consisted of everything from coffee to tea to even smoothies and milkshakes.
One of the most interesting part of the menu was a section called the “The Slow Bar” where they take what they call the “single origin” coffee beans of the day and use special brewing methods that sound like something your would find in a science laboratory. Some of the strange brewing methods they provided were siphon, chemex and aeropress. All drinks ranged between RM6 to RM12. They also had a variety of cakes (they had Red Velvet cake, for you Red Velvet junkies like me) and pastries too.
In the end, I decided get a mocha and a mocha cheese cake

. Who couldn’t resist a drink with some sort of a chocolate element? My friend got an espresso macchiato. They were absolutely lovely. I would describe the flavor as being very pure to the ingredients, unlike some other coffees I have had that had a very strong roasted flavor that often overpowered the coffee flavor.
We sat around and chatted. The atmosphere was chilled and laidback. My friend then mentioned that she was told that this café did a thing called 3D coffee foam art. I was appalled that she did not mention it earlier as I would have asked the barista about it. After much discussion, we decided that since we were here, we might as well just ask about it.
We then asked the barista about and he made a hot chocolate with the coffee foam art. I nearly died from the cuteness when I first saw it. Three little cats make from foam floating on top of the hot chocolate. I was really amazed. After taking pictures of it from almost every angle possible, we were caught between the dilemma of watching the little foam cats slowly melt away or devour those little buggers. We sadly ate each one of those little kitties of foam and shared the hot chocolate. I have to say that that cup of hot chocolate was one of the best I have ever had. It was thick and luxurious. Gosh, just thinking about makes me want to have one right now.
Japanese artist makes 3D works of art out of coffee froth. You can ask them to create any your favourite cartoon on the coffee froth... They won't decline your demand if they know how to do it...
After some though, I realized why the name “Coffee Stain by Joseph” sounded so familiar to me. I remember seeing a branch in Publika at Solaris Dutamas. I ran through one of the flyers there and discovered that they were featured in TimeOutKL as one of the best coffee joints in KL. The main branch in Publika also serves a vast variety of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I really would like to try out the branch in Publika one day to get my hands on some of their food. If you are looking for a nice cozy place for warm cup of coffee (or cold, if the day is hot) or just to get a cup of drinkable art, then please do drop by The Coffee Stain by Joseph. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I did.
