continue reading

one of my very favourite chinese restaurant in shopping malls. Super love their thick porridge and had the sliced fish and also the pork balls combination. usually comes with fried crullers and spring onion on top.  the fragrant flower tea was light and comforting for a rainy night. and also the Flat Noodles in Egg Gravy (Wat Tan Hor) was great too! wished that they added more fried meehoon instead. nevertheless, satisfying Hong Kong style food. continue reading

For a friend's birthday, we decided on splurging on some good Chinese good. The one place that caught our attention is Canton-i which we hadn't eaten at for years. I almost forgot how good the food there is although slightly pricey. To share we got a platter of Char Siew & Siew Yuk. These were not at all disappointing because the char siew was nicely sweet, the edges charred just nice and the meat was also very tender. Almost as if it immediately melted on your tongue. Whereas the Siew Yuk was different but equally good. The layer of skin was perfectly crunchy while having the right amount of salt while the meat was juicy. There's a nice layer of fat in between each layer of meat but it wasn't too much that I had to spit out most of it. This, I had a lot of. Just to counteract how guilty we felt for indulging in so much meat, we got the stir-fried lotus root with cashews. This was my favourite dish because I like the vegetable is one thing but then the way that Canton I does it just makes it so much better. If we were not already quite full then I would have suggested to order a second helping of this. continue reading

The amaranth with century egg and salted egg in superior soup is priced at RM 22 and the portion is pretty huge if not sharing. The pork intestine congee can be a little pricey depending on how you look at it. The porridge is deliciously smooth and tasty with very great taste just nice for my palate. It was quite a big bowl but once again, it depends on different individuals. Their signature is their wanton noodles and this time around, I tried the Signature wanton noodles with jumbo prawn wanton in soup which is reasonably priced at RM 13.80 given the amount of prawns and other ingredients in the noodle. The prawns happened to be quite fresh too." continue reading
