7 lucky members were invited to participate in OpenRice’s exclusive MakanVenture food tasting at De’Amour Café on 20th November!
Located at the vibrant commercial district of Kota Damansara, De’Amour Café is a full-fledged restaurant offering exquisite Western Cuisine. The chef-owner, Jennifer Yap, is a former beauty queen who has a passion for cooking. The café’s menu, which consists of salad, main course, pasta, pizza and dessert, is created by her. She insists on preparing all the dishes on the menu by herself to make sure the quality is consistent.
The café’s interior is beautifully designed in French style with white furniture. Apart from the main dining area, guests can also relax at the sofa area at the end of shop while sipping on a cup of fragrant coffee or healthy flower tea.
Before enjoying the foods, we had a warm-up session by having everyone introduce themselves. Most of the participants were female, which in a way tells us that female members prefer restaurants with nice ambience!
Many signature dishes were served during the food tasting session. One of our favorites was the Smoked Duck Breast Salad. The duck breast slices were chewy and juicy with a good ratio of lean meat and fat. We didn’t expect the duck meat to be such a good match with the salad. It was so good that we just couldn’t stop eating!
Also special was the Baked Scallop with Spicy Cream Sauce. It was served with half a dozen of fresh scallops topped with house special spicy sauce. The scallops were fresh and bouncy with a rich and mildly spicy flavour.
The highlight of the day was the signature Grilled French Lamb Rack with Crushed Pistachio. The rare and expensive French Lamb Rack was freshly air-flown from New Zealand. The lamb rack was grilled without adding any extra seasoning to maintain its natural and original flavors. Coated with crushed pistachio, the meat was tender and succulent without any gamey smell.
Last but not least, we had delicious mille crepe for our dessert! De’Amour’s mille crepes were homemade daily to make sure the cakes are fresh and creamy. We tried three different flavors, including Mango Jelly, Tiramisu, and Rare Cheese. The popular Mango Jelly is filled with a thick layer of mango jelly, adding a rich mango flavor to the cake.
