It’s the month of MAY! Entering the fifth month, there’s more exciting new cafes and restaurants sprouting around Klang Valley. Besides there is too some snack truck that gained the attention of the netizens and became famous instantly. So, without further ado, let’s begin our food hunting now!

1. Every Sundae @ Uptown, PJ

A new cafe opens recently. It is near to Village Park Nasi Lemak, they are one of the gelato brands under Cielo Dolci, and Whimsical at Publika in PJ. Their ice creams here are soft serve sundaes rather than the Gelato style. Patrons can customize their own likings on that sundae itself from the base to the toppings; you can mix and match it yourself! Just open for more than 2 weeks, their business is incredibly good. What’s special here would be adding the Cotton Cloud, so it looks just like how it is, a cloud on top of your sundae!

2. Giant Laksa @ Selayang

Have you tried one of the most famous curry mee in Selayang that had gone viral on the internet? Located inside at Coca Sea Food Restaurant, this stall operates from around 7.30am in the morning and the queue is indeed very long. The longest to wait might go up to 2 hours during weekends just for a bowl of incredible good curry mee! Contains 10 ingredients that includes Char Siew, Roasted Pork, Curry Chicken, Clams, Pork Balls, Fish Balls, Fried Fu Zhuk, Long Beans, Bean sprouts and Pork Lard. Named the ‘Giant’ Laksa, you got to try it to believe it!

3. Yellow Brick Road @ Jalan Batai

Located at Jalan Batai in KL, they have newly revamped and quite some new cafes sprout over there too. What’s interesting is that Yellow Brick Road is one of them! The brainchild of the founder of The Red Beanbag, which is why the decorations, coffees and food wise are up to standard! Food wise, they are more to western style but with a touch of local taste! For instant, ‘I Wanna Be Kaya!’ is made of French Toast and with Kaya jam and pairs up with strawberries and pear slices; topped with peanut and black sesame – a must try toast!

4. The Shack @ Bandar Puteri Puchong

Bringing in the same dining concept from Taiwan, you can have it 2 ways on the grill pan or the mini pot steamboat style. Furthermore, they have 15 different soap base to choose from; and there’s one of it that is quite worth recommending which is the Cheese and Milk combination soup base. Didn’t know that it suits well by cooking meat and vegetables onto the broth! Every sip of it is indeed fragrantly good and strong cheese and milk flavor! Usually packed with patrons over the weekends, do prepare to reach there earlier!

5. Sing Kee’s Mini Buddha Jumps Over the Wall @ Old Klang Road

Just for RM6.50 and you’ll get to taste Buddha Jumps Over the Wall? Yes, it is now possible in KL! Just opposite of Pearl Point Hotel here, this Chinese stall is indeed a must try! A small stall that cooks dishes, double-boiled soups, and paper-wrapped chicken; one of top selling would be this - Mini Buddha Jumps Over the Wall Soup! Consist of 2 chicken drumsticks, scallops, fish maw, button mushrooms, goji berry and more! Just for RM6.50, indeed one of the best here! But of course, they only cook 20 bowls of it daily! Be sure to be there early!

6. The Counter @ The Dining Loft, Pavilion

Originated from California, they are the new custom made burger restaurant. Patrons can decide what they would like to have ranging from meat patties, cheese, sauces, toppings, bread and vegetables; this truly represents your own choice of burger! Their menu provides more than 80 choices of ingredients to choose, there are more than a million of possibility in creating your own burger! If undecided, there is a menu where they have the ready-made ones so you can just get in, order and enjoy your meal! The ready-made ones are known as The Official Counter Burger, Old School, Knife + Fork and more, really worth your time to try!

7. My Feelings Café @ Solaris Mont Kiara

Open its doors recently, they are known as My Feelings Café. Same owner from Lewisgene café in KL, it is a very sudden feeling to have a café nearby, this café is thus opened. That is why it is noticeable that their shop signage is not even ready yet. Having the same concept, of good food and good coffees just like Lewisgene, but the ambience here is more soothing and their signature is still their favorable mocha. Of course, don’t miss out their Belgium Waffle, crispy waffles with whipped cream and strawberries. Yummy!

8. Rimba & Rusa @ Sunway Nexis, Kota Damansara

The brainchild of Wondermilk, this new café is located at Sunway Nexis and it’s called Rimba & Rusa. A very decent and nice café in KL, the lighting here is pretty good too as they uses huge glass panels as the window so the natural lighting would be perfect especially when it is bright and sunny! The menu here is quite extensive as they serve breakfasts, salads, pastas, steaks and so on. Their seafood spaghetti is as good as how the picture is, with fresh prawns and squid, with a little bit of spiciness from the tomato paste, indeed special! Try them today! Haven’t try them yet?
