It's been sometimes since I last visited City Square in Johor Bahru and it came to our surprised when we saw this new shop front stating "Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul". As a Chendol lover as well as with a dialect group of Teochew, I gave me no reason not to try. Interior was spacious and modern, an opposite sight from its store front which looked traditional. However when it comes to the ordering counter, there is a mixture of both old school and modernized concepts. With the mosaic tiles in shades of greys applied onto the walls of the counter, it brought us an olden day feel to somewhere back into the 60s together with its black & white photographs near its menu. Upon ordering, we will be giving this number tag with the big signage on Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul. Chendul was tasted light with the blend coconut milk but that did not make the taste of Gula Melaka stands up. Though it was chilled but if it is being served in metal spoons, it would give better scores to what I seek for in a bowl of chill dessert.
