What’s better than having a sumptuous Chinese dinner with fellow OpenRicers when Chinese New Year is just around the corner?

10 pairs of lucky OpenRicers were invited to join our MakanVenture FREE food tasting event at Restaurant Xiang Yue Qing at Sunway Mentari to savour eight delicious Chinese dishes! It is the third food tasting event in January.

When all OpenRicers had arrived, we played a simple game to break the ice. Each participant picked a candy and answered a fun question according to the candy’s colour.

Openricers come from all walks of life, yet they share the same passion: the love for delicious food!

We didn’t wait long before the savoury dishes were served. We tasted eight mouth-watering dishes, including Stone Fish, Hunan Style Grilled Prawn, Pumpkin with Chicken, Lion Head with Abalone Sauce and so on. The dishes offered at Restaurant Xiang Yue Qing are a mixture of Hunan, Sichuan and Guangdong cuisine to cater to both spicy and non-spicy food lovers.

After all dishes were served, the restaurant’s main chef from China introduced what is special about each dish. Many questions were raised about the cooking methods and ingredients. The chef was more than willing to answer each question with patience.

To wrap up the event, we had a Q&A session to give away free prizes. Any participant who is able to answer a question related to OpenRice and the restaurant correctly would be given a free prize as reward!
Cheok Eng Huat (on the left), a head hunter, was impressed by the owner’s generosity in serving so many delicious dishes for them to try.
Siva, on the other hand, like OpenRice website very much, because it is very informative, especially the reviews written by OpenRice members.
“I like to use OpenRice to write review, because I can express what I truly think about a restaurant on this platform. Before visiting a new restaurant, I would go to OpenRice to search for reviews written by others as reference”, said Joanne Lee (on the left), a medical student.
