Another FREE food tasting event was organized by OpenRice in cooperation with Kechara Oasis, a new age vegetarian fine dining restaurant nestled in Viva Home Shopping Mall in Cheras.

Similar to past events, we have invited 10 pairs of OpenRicers to join the food tasting. All invited participants showed up and arrived on time.

It’s great to have Malay friends joining us as well!

Each participant was allowed to bring a partner to participate in this event. We always welcome new members to join the big family with open arms!

Active OpenRicers, including Mokkymok, CindyTong, and MaiOhMY, had also attended the event. You might have come across their reviews on OpenRice.

Our host of the day, Calvin, gave us a brief introduction to OpenRice website to kick off the event.

Since most of the participants joined the event for the first time, we played a simple ice-breaking game, so that we could know each other more by introducing ourselves and answering simple and fun questions.

Before the much-anticipated winter melon hotpot was served, the restaurant’s manager, Jeffrey, gave a general introduction to the restaurant and its objective.

Highlight of the day, Winter Melon Hotpot, had arrived! OpenRicers couldn’t wait to take pictures of it to share on OpenRice or other social media platforms.

The hotpot came with a variety of ingredients, including noodles, seafood, meat, mushroom and vegetables.

The broth was prepared with more than 30 different types of Chinese herbs, including Red Dates, America Ginseng, and Wolfberry, making the soup both nutritious and aromatic. The winter melon lent a natural sweetness to the soup.

Another extra dish, the Xiang Chun Fried Rice, was served to satisfy everyone’s palate.

As usual, we had a Q&A session to give away free gifts to participants who were able to answer the questions prepared by the staff correctly.

One of the participants, Jane Lau, is a frequent user of Open Ricer. “OpenRice let me know where to find restaurants that serve great and tasty food”, she said.

Cindy Tong, on the other hand, finds OpenRice to be beneficial, because she can look for tons of food reviews written by others on the website.
