1919 Restaurant

Craving for delicious Nyonya food?

12 OpenRice members and bloggers were invited to join our MakanVenture food tasting event to try delicious Nyonya Cuisine for FREE at 1919 Restaurant on 17 July!

Located at Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, 1919 Restaurant is a beautiful restaurant that is tastefully decorated in classic and chic style. The ground floor is a spacious dining area with a VIP room, and the first floor is a lounge where you can enjoy a jug of cold beer while listening to the music.

A beautiful long wooden table at the VIP room was reserved for our members.

Half of the participants joined the event for the first time. We played our signature food tasting game to break the ice. Three members were randomly picked to try a food with their eyes blindfolded. After trying the food, they had to write down what they thought about the food, just like how we share food reviews on OpenRice!

8 mouth-watering signature dishes were served, including Kerabu Salad with Fried Eggplant, Homemade Tofu, Salted Egg Fried Chicken and Seafood Curry. The highlight of the meal is definitely the Seafood Curry, which consists of fish, clam, fish ball, long bean and lady’s finger. The Ipoh style curry is aromatic but less spicy than KL version.

Snap some nice photos of the delicious food~

Another special dish is the lotus seed biscuit with ice cream. The crispy biscuit is filled with sweet and creamy lotus seed paste. Eat the biscuit with ice cream to enjoy a nice combination of hot and cold.

After finishing the delicious meal, we had a Q&A session to give away OpenRice souvenirs.

The restaurant’s owner, Roy, answered some questions raised by our members.

A group photo was taken in front of the restaurant with the twin towers’ view to mark the end of a fun and enjoyable event!
