Supreme Fried Rice

Supreme Fried Rice

The fried rice came with a generous amount of eggs, long beans, fresh prawns and last but not least, the scallops (which somehow rather gave it the name 'Supreme"). The texture of the rice was good, fluffy and not overly-moist. It was very fragrant with lots of golden-brown eggs! The prawns used were fresh, crunchy and well-cooked. They were naturally sweet and juicy, unlike the prawns found in other fried rice which were hard and rough.
Wat Tan Hor

Wat Tan Hor

The 'kuey teow' (thick rice noodle) served with thick savoury gravy was delicious. The gravy and the aromatic 'kuey teow' blended well to give a tinge of sweetness. The tender pork and the crunchy prawns gave a hint of freshness to the noodles.
Mongolian Pork Ribs

Mongolian Pork Ribs

The well-marinated pork ribs were grilled and were succulent. The Mongolian sauce was creamy and tasted like a crossover between curry and butter milk sauce. It produced an indescribable, heavenly blend with the ribs.
Stir Fried Cabbage Sprout

Stir Fried Cabbage Sprout

The cabbage sprout was stir fried with garlic and created a strong aroma. It was then topped with crunchy deep fried sprout leaves. A special combination of crispiness and smoothness.

Tea Break in Hokkaido Smile Dec 20, 2013

HOKKAIDO ICHIBA it is!

HOKKAIDO ICHIBA it is!

The Counter

The Counter

Located on the 3rd Floor of The Gardens Mall, this restaurant has an extensive entrance with a spacious, comfy and cozy interior. The interior is kept clean at all times and the design gave a hint of the modern Japanese style. Customers were welcomed, greeted and brought to their respective seats by friendly and attentive staff.
The Open Kitchen

The Open Kitchen

Just like most of the Japanese restaurants, Hokkaido Ichiba bears an open kitchen concept whereby customers are able to watch the process of the food preparation by the chefs. There was no large crowd seen when I was there. Do not get me wrong, this "phenomenon" has got nothing to do with the quality and taste of the food of the restaurant. This occurred as I went there at 4.00 p.m., where the lunch crowd has left and the crowd for dinner has yet to arrive. tongue
Ebi Gyoza

Ebi Gyoza

The Ebi Gyoza is something that i find uncommon as this dumpling cannot be found in most Japanese restaurants. Most of the restaurants serve only Chicken Gyoza. The Ebi Gyoza was filled with fresh, juicy and succulent prawns (unlike the "stale" prawns that you usually get outside). Moreover, the skin was neither overly thick nor overly thin. The soy-vinegar dipping sauce blended really well with the gyozas. One of the must-try dishes for prawn lovers!
Spider Roll

Spider Roll

Soft-shell crab anyone? The battered deep-fried soft shell crab wrapped with lettuce and rice was delicious. The soft shell crab was still warm and crispy when served and the flying-fish roe topping the roll was also huge and crunchy. Those fish roe used was at least two times larger than those tiny fish roe that we usually see on top of makis. This Spider Roll is probably one of the makis that we can easily find in Japanese restaurants, but sushi and maki lovers should definitely try out the Spider Roll in Hokkaido Ichiba. smile

Gelato with Zero Air Content Smile Dec 10, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Italian | Stall / Warung | Ice Cream / Froyo / Gelato

Stickhouse combines the homemade tradition of the Italian art of gelato making and the latest technology. They are now available in more than 30 cities globally. Currently, Stickhouse has 4 outlets in Malaysia spread over two states. In the Klang Valley, there is one in Sunway Pyramid, one in Citta Mall and another one in The Gardens Mall. In Penang, Stickhouse has a kiosk in the newly-launched Gurney Paragon Mall.

The gelati here are made using 100% natural and genuine ingredients without the addition of artificial flavouring, colouring and preservative. The main ingredients or bases used to produce these yummy gelati are inulin, fructose, carob bean flour, sodium caseinate and egg white.

Besides that, the production techniques used play an important role in making these heavenly gelati. Stickhouse's gelati are produced without adding any air (unlike most of the gelati outside). As there is no air added in the production, the gelati are denser and have creamier texture with very rich and natural flavours. Do note that the absence of air also prolongs the melting time of the gelati and sorbets. Hence, parents do not have to worry that their children will end up having sticky hands or messy clothings after indulging the gelati! tongue
A family enjoying their gelati

A family enjoying their gelati

So there was a family enjoying their gelati while we were having ours... What a sweet and happy family they are. smile
Some of the available flavours

Some of the available flavours

These gelati and sorbets on sticks come in 23 flavours of choice. However, the flavours available on different days are subjected to the daily availability. Stickhouse also comes up with limited-time flavours during festive seasons such as the upcoming Christmas and New Year! lol
Go-Nut flavour (Limited time only)

Go-Nut flavour (Limited time only)

The Go-Nut flavour is only available for a limited period of time. It comes with crunchy chopped pistachios coated with rich vanilla gelato. On top of that, this gelato is slightly dipped with dark chocolate and also topped with more pistachios which made this stick really, really crunchy! Definitely a must-try for pistachio lovers!
Gianduia flavour

Gianduia flavour

The bestseller in Stickhouse is undeniably the Gianduia! Gianduia is made with a mixture of cocoa and hazelnut. This blend is just too heavenly and might be irresistible to chocolate lovers. Perhaps some people might refer this Gianduia flavour as the "Ferrero Rocher" flavour. Yes, it tastes just like Ferrero Rocher! I had mine dipped in dark chocolate and topped with hazelnuts which actually made it more tempting. mad
Pistachio flavour

Pistachio flavour

Initially, I wanted this pistachio gelato to be dipped in milk chocolate. However, I was told by the staff that it would taste better if the gelato was to be dipped in white chocolate. And in the matter of fact, it tasted great with the white chocolate! So there you go... Pistachio with white chocolate and topped with chopped pistachios. I did not want the gelato to be fully dipped so that the chocolate will not "overshadow" the gelato. lol
Upcoming flavour!

Upcoming flavour!

The Chocolate and Cheese Cake flavour will be made available in conjunction with Christmas and New Year at all Stickhouse outlets from the 15th of December onwards. Do give it a try if you are a chocolate or cheese lover!
Customize your gelati and sorbets!

Customize your gelati and sorbets!

Choose the toppings and dippings of your gelati and sorbets according to the preference of your tastebuds. Since most Malaysians have sweet tooth, you can opt to go for add-on dipping with a selection of white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate where they are all pure chocolate and helps the cardiovascular system to stay healthy. If the dipping does not satisfy your craving, you can also go for topping from almonds, hazelnuts, pistachios and chocolate rice.

The gelati here might be slighty pricey but they are definitely worth the price.

Satay for Breakfast? Smile Dec 03, 2013

Satay

Satay

Situated opposite the central bus station, this restaurant serves satay marinated with an adequate amount of spices and herbs. This gave the satay its irresistible fragrant and aroma. The chicken satay was juicy and unlike most of the satay sold in the Klang Valley, the satay served here consists of little to no chicken fats/skin! Matched perfectly with the thick and creamy peanut sauce, this satay is a must-have! The serving above was meant for five people. However, customers eat as many they like, and they are charged only for what they ate.
Mee Rebus

Mee Rebus

The sauce for the Mee Rebus was amazing. The sweet taste blended really well with the noodles and parsley. smile
Lontong

Lontong

The Lontong came with a generous amount of nasi impit, vegetables and a whole hard-boiled (something that you do not usually get in KL)!

Comfortable and Relaxing

Behind this restaurant is a type of "scenery" which I did not expect to see. It looked really cozy and comfortable. Perhaps, we should get a table there next time...
Hmm, a Monkey in a Restaurant?

Hmm, a Monkey in a Restaurant?

So, they have these cute monkey plushies hung on the ceiling, holding the menu available in the restaurant. Perhaps, they have a creative and artistic owner? lol

Literally, the morning crowd at 8.30a.m. in the morning!A friendly staff smiling for a photo while working at the satay grill! lol

Cheese Fondue Fish

Cheese Fondue Fish

The Cheese Fondue Fish, which comprises of fried fish meat, French fries, broccoli and a bun, tasted really good, especially the cheese.
The Cheese Fondue

The Cheese Fondue

It was smooth and creamy, and had the right amount of chopped garlic. The cheese remains hot with a small flame beneath the pot. The fried fish meat and the French fries complemented the taste of the sauce very well.
This heavenly fondue is priced at a mere RM 16.80 and it is definitely worth the price. A must try for cheese lovers! smile
Lemon Juice

Lemon Juice

The Lemon Juice was a bit too sweet and hence, the sourness of the lemon could not be tasted.
This citrus drink is priced at a reasonable price of RM 4.80.
