Located at the famous Jonker Street of Malacca is the Jonker 88 restaurant. As it was a school holiday, the restaurant was packed to the brim. As the restaurant is on a self-service basis, I had to queue under the hot sun because of the long queue. Luckily, service was excellent as the line moved much quicker than expected.I ordered the Baba Chendol, and it was whipped up with full efficiency.

The first mouthful of the chendol was heaven sent, after the intense heat of the queue. The gula melaka was flavorful and aromatic with a perfect taste of sweetness. The ice was thinly shaved making the chendol very smooth. A generous amount of evaporated milk was poured on the chendol, which gives a nice flavour and aroma. Just like any other chendol, they have red beans, green flour jelly and peanuts as its ingredients at its bottom.
The Baba Chendol costs RM3.00, which is a fair price to pay considering its ingredients and taste.

We arrived to the restaurant at approximately 11am, only to find that it was not opened yet. They asked us to come back at 12pm. We went to another location for brunch instead and came back only around 3.30pm to find most of the items on the menu already sold out. Apart from the pork satay, we also tried the chicken satay.

Unlike the pork satay, the chicken satay tasted a little too flat. It is not to say that it is not delicious, but it has been overshadowed by the pork satay. The chicken satay was too lean, making the meat less smoother than the pork version. Nevertheless, it was also grilled to perfection with some crisps. Coupled with its excellent peanut sauce, the chicken satay tastes good as well. My only qualm was the restaurant ran out of many other types of satay to try, like the intestines or mutton satay.

Visited Malacca town recently for a sightseeing trip and to sample some of their famous local delicacies. One of the restaurants recommended by a local is the Ming Sate Hut. The specialty of this restaurant is that it serves pork satay, which is unheard of in the Klang Valley.

We ordered the pork satay and it was served around 15 minutes after the order were made. The pork satay was juicy and delicious! It has a good amount of fat and lean in the satay, and it was perfectly grilled with a little crisps on the edge which is perfectly fine. The peanut sauce was also tasty and flavourful, which complements the satay very much. The peanut sauce was blended into a nice smooth texture in which I could still taste every bit of the peanut. Definitely worth coming back for more when I visit Malacca, but I have to make sure to be there at the right time.
