Sunday is a day where families go for their weekend groceries shopping. Well, for me it's more of going to my nearest shopping complex. For dinner tonight, I had McDonald's! Remind me not to make this a habit, since I do want to slim down.

I found out the prosperity burger is still available, but with a new addition. All this while, McD's prosperity burger came only in beef. My partner does not eat beef due to religious reasons. This time the prosperity burger came in chicken flavor as well, which we promptly ordered. I wanted the fried chicken, but they don't have chicken thighs, so I changed my order to a chicken mcdeluxe burger.

The prosperity burger itself was delicious, especially with the sauce it came with. The black pepper sauce was overflowing and gave a rather strong taste to the burger. It was ok for me, but when my partner took a bite, she complaint it was too spicy for her liking. Oh well, you can't please everyone all the time.

PAPPARICH CAFE SRI RAMPAI Smile Jan 21, 2012

Categories : Malaysian variety | Restaurant | Noodles | Halal | Nasi Lemak

I've always heard of Papparich outlets from friends and colleagues, but personally I have not tried it myself, until today. The weather today was looking really fine, and it so happened a few friends invited me for lunch with them. We decided to test out the Papparich Cafe branch at Sri Rampai near Wangsa Maju.

We arrived at the Papparich branch at Sri Rampai after a short 10 minutes drive, and the first thing that hit me was, Papparich looks very similar to Oldtown White Coffee. From the seats, to the colour scheme of the whole cafe, if not for the signs indicating the differences, I would not have been able to distinguish between these two franchise. Forgive me as I did not take a picture from outside the cafe showing how it looked like. I thought of getting some pictures off the net, unfortunately I couldn't get suitable pictures.

The menu that was given to me had an "old" look to it, I'm not sure if it looks old due to the number of patrons flipping through it, or it was by design. Have a look below and tell me what do you think.

My friend recommended me to take the nasi lemak. It was named Papparich Nasi Lemak. One thing I noticed from the menu was that everything inside has the word Papparich attached to it, for example Papparich Kuey Teow and Papparich Mocha.

The nasi lemak itself was good, the chicken tender, and the sambal was savory and just enough spiciness in it. The rice had a very nice fragrant to it, and "lemak" enough. One gripe was there wasn't enough sambal and we had to request for more.

To complement my heavy and calories laden meal, I ordered the iced mocha drink. It was sweet and frothy enough. Not a bad drink, but slightly to the bitter side.

Overall a good meal, and for a first timer like me to Papparich, I do not have any major gripes, except maybe for the slightly slow service from the waiters. This was probably due to the number of people there during lunch hour. I am unable to reveal the prices here because of the simple fact that my friend who brought me there paid for the meal, I did not know the exact price. Reached back the office after lunch break with a full and happy stomach.

The Sandwich Bar

For those who wanted a lighter meal, there was a corner filled with sandwiches, aptly named the Sandwich Bar. As usual the ingredients were all placed in front of us for the choosing.

The sandwiches itself had these scrumptious and tasty meat in between, chicken meat to be exact. Just love the way they made sure it wasn't overly cooked with a soft taste with each bite. the meat slices were really fresh. You can make your own healthy sandwich here too!

The other day, I was sort of hungry during lunch for some cake, and decided to crash in at this Secret Recipe outlet near my work place. It has been a while since I last splurged on Secret Recipe's food. Have a look below on what I had that afternoon. We did not order a lot, but it was really filling.

I started off with the chocolate chip walnut cake. Initially I wanted to order some cheese cakes as Secret Recipe is famous for its various cheese cakes, but decided not to because I wanted to save the calories there and spend it on the ice cream later!

Next up, ordered the main course, which was the chicken cordon bleu, and satay respectively. The cordon bleu was really nice with creamy cheese in it. I forgot to take a picture of the cheese inside because greedy me ate most of it before realizing.
Chicken Cordon Bleu - RM15.80

The Satay was good, with huge chunks of chicken meat. But I actually prefer satays with a bit of fat, this was just too healthy for my liking

Next up was my favourite dessert. Ice creams! Secret Recipe's chocolate sundae to be exact. 3 scoops of heavenly ice cream, which was really a welcome treat during the day when the weather was so hot.

Overall, it was a high calorie, but satisfying meal. I went back to the office feeling really full, and slightly sleepy!

The Char Kuey Teow which wasn't bad at all. I love fried kuey teows which are fried over a hot flaming wok as it does really enhance the taste, and this was exactly what was seen here when the cook prepared our dish. The dish came with big, fresh and juicy prawn. Remember to eat the keow teow together with chief special garlic soya sauce. The mixture of both really bring up the keow teow taste. Most importantly during the preparation of the the fried keow teow dish was the flame. While cooking the flame must be big enough so that the dish will have the flaming taste on top of the spices from the chilli
