Like many other food trends around, the mille crepe cake created quite a trend which was first sparked by Nadeje, in Malacca. Having eaten the ones at Nadeje, which is almost undoubtedly one of the best ones around, I must say that I have had pretty high standards for this. And true enough, I was massively disappointed by the thick chunky layers of the cake. So disappointing.

Macaroons are the loveliest pastry trend to hit Kuala Lumpur, and I have seen many cafes serving them. I have also heard where to get the best macaroons in town. Since I was here at Botannical, I decided to just give it a try and I was dismayed. First, by the overwhelming and overpowering sweetness, and the second by the completely artificial flavour from it.

There was a whole roaste lamb at the Ramadhan Buffet which I thought was the best thing ever, until I tasted the lamb. =.=' It is almost very disappointing to say that the chefs in Concorde really doesn't know how to roast a lamb. It was dry, it was cold and the mint sauce was jelly like. -.-'

This dish is part of the ‘Warung Nasi Padang Ibunda’ Ramadan Buffet, which is available in Concorde Hotel at the Melting Pot Cafe & Concorde Ballroom.

What this looks like is basically stir fry brinjal topped with whole loads of tonnes of chillies. Even more, chillies and more chilies. I do generally avoid taking chillies because I have never been a fan of them. But this being one of the Padang speciality and also because the daging version of this was finished so quickly, I thought this must be pretty awesome as well. Except it wasn't. I mentioned it looks like it was just stir fry brinjal with chillies and that is really all that is to that, unfortunately.

This was disappointing on all levels. It may have looked really delish from the picture but it was awful to eat. The pastry was too thick, the sauce provided was too little and there is hardly any mushroom in the pie. :/ Coming from Ben's, I have to admit that I expected much more than this. I would definitely not recommend this to anyone. The salad that comes with it wasn't too shabby, but still.
