Kimchi Cry May 13, 2013   (Related Review)

At the Korean section, you will the famous and essential dish of Korea, the Kimchi. The kimchi is considered the staple dish of all Koreans. The kimchi is made from cabbage and fermented in a spicy vinegar sauce with lots of garlic in it. Different establishement offer this in a different taste, the taste varies because of the taste of the sauce. The kimchi from Shogun was not really my liking. I felt that the taste of the garlic was overpowering. I couldn't take the pungent taste

Squid Sashimi Cry May 13, 2013   (Related Review)

Moving on to the sashimi counter, i found the squid sashimi. The squid sashimi was not really my favorite. Mainly due to the taste. The squid sashimi was definitely fresh. The pure white squid was also crunchy and springy. However, the part that i didn't like was the bland taste of the squid. The squid was totally tasteless, i can't tell that i was eating a squid. I know if i dipped the squid sashimi in the wasabi and soy sauce, i will have more flavors. But when it comes to sashimi, sometimes i prefer eating it raw and original.

So far from all the desserts i have tried in Tong Pak Fu, I think this is the only dessert i would not re-order. The glutinous rice ball is in black color but it tasted bland. I was hoping the glutinous rice balls were infused with black sesame flavors, so that even eating the glutinous rice balls alone can be tasty. But, they were bland. You need to dip the glutinous rice balls in the crushed sesame. The crushed sesame also tasted bland. I didn't like the texture of the glutinous rice balls, they were too soft.

Dan Dan Noodle  Cry May 09, 2013   (Related Review)

Dan Dan noodle seems to be a popular dish in Taiwan, but the one i had from Jin Taiwan was disappointing. The noodle was totally different from what i would have expected. The ingredients in the noodle were very little and they were just normal items such as siew bak choy, chicken ball, prawn, beansprouts, and braised egg. The soup was also tasted very normal, nothing memorable about it.

Cendol Cry May 09, 2013   (Related Review)

Melacca is also famous for cendol, and this shop also sells it. I was disappointed with the cendol. Honestly, i think the mamak stall did better cendol than this shop. The gula melaka was not fragrant, and the shaved iced was too rough. The red beans were off quality. I don't even like the taste of the coconut milk in the dessert. I wonder why they can recommend people to eat this.
