Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Food court

Food Republic is a clean, elegant food court located on the second floor of the New Wing, Rainforest. The 13,000sq ft food atrium can occupy 550 customers at full capacity and has 15 tenants with an interesting mix of cuisines ranging from Malay, Chinese, Japanese, Middle Eastern, Western, Taiwanese and Malaysian. This food court is designed with sleekly modern white interior, unique design

I gave a try to their Chicken Rice from Hong Kong Roast Stall. Didn't put much expectation on the chicken rice at first, but I was wrong. I was surprised with the delicious chicken when I had the first bite on it. Perfectly roasted with glossy skin, the meat was so tender, flavourful, and juicy, much better than I expected to be. Rice was full flavoured from the chicken stock infused within, definitely a satisfying pairing of chicken rice and roasted chicken.

Pepper Lunch Smile Aug 21, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Food court | Steaks / Chops | Burgers / Sandwiches

Pepper Lunch, a place that is tagged with title 'lunch' but suitable for not only lunch, but brunch, teatime, dinner as well. The restaurant focuses on a concept of cooking the rice and and meat on a high heat pan. It is more on DIY type where you can actually play around by tossing your own rice and meat until they are cooked. Pretty interesting. Since DIY cooking is their main focus, the environment turns to be more simple, with wall painted in light colour, and squared tables and chairs lining up in the spacious dining area.

Salmon Pepper Rice is their signature dish. The salmon is served raw, together with the rice on hot pan. So as I toss everything together, the salmon will get cooked after few minutes. Throw in some quality black pepper to add some aroma. The black pepper is said to come from Sarawak, the state of black pepper. I added on with cheese at RM2, and happy with my creamy, cheesy version of salmon rice.

Clan Restaurant is a dim sum restaurant in Sri Petaling which is famous for their Gei Wo Bao. They open early in the morning till lunch time to cater crowds for breakfast as well as lunch. The place is always full especially during noon time, and getting a seating is quite difficult. I was glad that I managed to grabbed an empty seat during my visit there. The environment was rather hot, stuffy. Cleanliness was average while seating was simple with round tables and stools.

Of course I had their famous Gei Wo Bao- which is actually a Chinese Bun with Loh Mai Gei (Glutinous rice) nestled within. The Gei Wo (雞窩/nest) literally means the glutinous rice which resembled nest, while the word Bao (包/pau) means the bun encasing the glutinous rice. The whole concept was interesting but I found the taste just normal, but the meat topping for glutinous rice was very flavourful, went well with the sticky, gluey rice. Pau was not bad, fresh, soft and fluffy.

EMO Cafe 体验式咖啡厅 OK Aug 21, 2013

EMO cafe, called it a place to rest your mind when you are 'emo', tired or not feeling good. This place provides you a homey and cozy ambience with delicious food to shoo away the moodiness from study or work. The whole place isn't big, but the decoration is on fairy-tale elements, very princess.

I tried out their onion soup. It was good overall, hearty portion but rather greasy, probably due to their sauteed onion. Loved the crouton came in love shape, swimming gracefully while absorbing the essence of soup. Definitely an ideal dish to order to warm up the tummy in a rainy day, or as starter before moving on to main dishes.

Watami Japanese Casual Restaurant Smile Aug 21, 2013

Watami Japanese Casual Restaurant, a restaurant under Watami Group that owns more than 600 restaurants developed in Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Shenzhen and Shanghai has received great feedback from diners since their opening in Malaysia few years ago. Watami Restaurant provides casual and comfortable dining restaurant, with wooden elements and red colour as decoration themes.

I tried out the Chicken Katsu Tamago Toji, which is highly recommended by many. Indeed, I would also recommend this dish to others after trying out. Came in large portion, the chicken katsu was thick, juicy and tender, with a layer of crispy breaded skin that add extra crunchy texture to the whole dish. The egg, which is meant to served in half done over the chicken, was soft and smooth, giving a contrasting texture to the meat.

This dish was ala-carte and didn't come with rice. So I get a bowl of regular size rice at RM4.90 to go with the delicious Chicken Katsu, as eating the dish alone will be too heavy and greasy. A bowl of fluffy Japanese rice will be good to balance up the heaviness.
