Huat Dan Hor. This vegetarian Huat Dan Hor consisted of fu chuk, vegetables, carrots, button mushrooms and oyster mushrooms. The hor fun and bee hoon was topped with these ingredients. The mee hoon was crispy. However, I would say the Huat Dan Hor broth was slightly disappointing as it was not egg and thick enough for my liking. The taste was quite bland too. So-so.

First time trying out Lui cha. Lui cha is a type of chinese cuisine that came with a bowl of soup in green (that tasted like mints leaves smell) and a bowl of rice with peanut, beans and assorted vegetable. It is a really healthy dish but not all the chinese loves it. If you love mint leave smell, you may like it. Not tasteless and with the vegetables, it turns out to be nice in chewing texture. It is available in poh ling temple every Thursday.

Anyway, this indeed is prepared in the temple caters for vegan folks. And I must say, taste wise, still doesn’t lose out to its compatriot. Each grain of rice is adequately flavored and quite solid. The accompanied mushroom is chewy and juicy as it has absorbed the gist earlier on when stewed, same goes for the soft soya bean product too

The fruit could be easily sliced off and not too sticky. It is very pulpy and nice to chew on for the yellowish flesh is actually bit starchy and fibrous. But do be careful not to drop any juice on your attire, else the stain would stay on for quite some time

Apparently the buns are topped off with some organic sunflower seeds that looks greenish, but taste wise still alright. You get to munch on the rather soft nut-like texture with a hint peanuts flavor, while the other flavor is hard to explain but it's good, haha. The bun itself is soft and fluffy. Basically, the bun has not much taste but is subtly delish with the seeds. Am fine with that, else, you could spread some butter in between to zest it up

Stir-Fried Young Tapioca ShootOne of my favourite greens is this tapioca shoot. Not only it is rich in fibres, which means is good at promoting better bowel movement, it tastes better than other vegetables for it has a chewier texture. Lei Char RiceThe rice distinctly is a good plate, or rather the much healthier fare of fried rice Reason being is the rice is full of flavours after you mixed it evenly with all the vegetables side dishes. As for me, has been an avid fan for this recipe ever since I tried it for the first time. The soup of course, is an acquired taste where you get to taste and learn to appreciate the zestfulness of the Ler Char. It’s actually pretty grassy but subtle as the tea herbs have been grounded finely in such a way that you could just add hot water to the paste to prepare this soup. There is also some dashes of white sesame that has futher added some fragrance into the nutritious soup.

This popiah is quite nice actually. Although it is meat-free, it still tastes good as ever. Comes with a filling of juicy bean sprouts and carrots, wrapped with a thin layer of popiah skin, it is then fried till crispy and light golden brown. I love it for the juiciness of the vegetables fillings although it has been fried and the popiah skin, trust me, is really crispy thin! Am pretty sure you would enjoy the crunch as well It is usually served alongside the vegetarian dishes at the rice corne

Else, if you are looking for a more simpler fare, this Lo Hon Zai would be a good option too. Basically, this is a compilation of vegetables like brinjal, long bean, cabbage, carrot, tau fu pok and many more, cooked together all in a pot with curry broth. The vegetables is then stewed till soft before served. The crisp cabbage helps to inject some natural sweetness into the pot too. I particularly enjoy the brinjal as it is really soft and easily melt in your mouth the moment you savour it. Afte

This vegetarian curry goes well with a plate of white rice that suits the tastebud of those non-vegan too

Usually this mock fish is pan-fried, as the bean source is already cooked by the way, then is doused with the sweet and sour source before it is dished out. And the vegetarian fish has done a good job too by absorbing the savory taste of the sauce

It is lighter and not of strong flavor side. You would also enjoy some chewy black fungus as well, which is known to be nutritious. For this plainer dish, they use the ginger sauce to flavor up the dish naturally with minimu, if not, none MSG needed. Indeed a fruitful vegan dish

“Mui Choy”. Since I reached the temple quite late during lunch hour, there was not much food variety left. All my favourite vegetarian dishes were gone, so I took this “muichoy”. Once I took the first bite, it was extremely salty. The texture was fine, not too soft and not too hard. It was the saltiness that turned me off. In order not to waste food, I forcefully swallowed the mui choy.

Stuffed Bittergout. At the deep fried tray there, I took this stuffed bittergout to try out. The bittergout was a thick one and indeed it was quite bitter. The stuffing was made with some vegetarian stuffs which I could not determine what was it. Overall the stuffing was quite bland and the only taste I tasted was the bitterness from the bittergout.

Just that the temple will be so crowded during lunch time but people are so considerate here that they will give us the seats once they finish their food.

I will go there again for lunch!
