Craving Indian Banana Leaf rice.
So decided to go The Banana Leaf at Mont Kiara.

I get white rice with lot of fish curry gravy, fried chicken, telur mata and papadam.
The fish curry gravy are thick and flavorful. It goes well together with the white rice.
Fried chicken are marinate well and crispy. And also my favorite the papadam are crunchy and not salty

Tosai is one of my favourite dish whenever visiting a mamak or whenever gathering for one of those famous Malaysian yumcha culture. The mix of soft and crispy textures are really great to nibble, and on top of that there is the tangy flavour in it which would slightly bring out your appetite. The tosai would go very well with chutney (the white stuff) as well as some curry and dalh. The chutney served here is one of the best that I’ve enjoyed around this area.

Banana leaf rice is originated from South India and is often served with an assortment of vegetables, pickles, curry, and some papadum. Banana leaf rice meaning white rice serving on a banana leaf, and traditionally eaten with hands. Being in Malaysia, we really have the luxury of food from different cultures. Having said that, one of my favourite local delights is no other than the banana leaf rice. It’s one of those meals where you eat your heart out. Most banana leaf restaurants served with banana leaf and the waiter would come to you and serve your dishes and curry.
Here in The Banana Leaf Restaurant, everything is self service. We still have the leaf, but it was nicely cut to fit into this round steel plate and we get to take whatever we like but pay the price later if you know what I mean. But I really like it this way, because it seems so much more convenient to eat from a plate. Imagine having to move to another table with the leaf, lolz… This is a good evolution, but lack the authenticity from the eating culture of real banana leaf rice.

So here, we still have rice served on banana leaf but in a plate. Even the papadum is freshly pre-packed individually. There are many types of curry, chicken, mutton, fish and dahl. Also, an array of vegetables and pickles. There is ready fried chicken and fried fish but you can order freshly fried ones as well.
