Betty's Midwest Kitchen is always so full and crowded.Tried out the Baby Back Ribs. Sounds cute right? Baby back ribs is marinated in special rub and grilled to succulent tenderness. Served with coleslaw and french fries. The meat is so juicy and tender no wonder it is baby's. The sauce to dip in is tasted so special and teh combination is just perfect. You wont need a chili sauce already.

This place is always packed with customers whenever I passed by, I've tried a couple of their dishes and I do admit the food is worth the wait. Betty's midwest kitchen specialized in American dishes and one of their signature dish is the dog food, bear in mind it is not really dog food but crispy golden fries drenched in meaty gravy and lots and lots of cheese sauce.

I had the Grilled Beer Braised Boston Butt. No it's not pork butt but pork shoulder. You should ask the restaurant owners why the name. After being braised with beer the pork is grilled to perfection. The meat is tender and the fat melts literally in your mouth. You can still taste the beer in the gravy. The mash is awesome as well and according to the waiter, it is made fresh daily.

Betty's Midwest Kitchen is a restaurant specializes on American midwest food, especially pork. But there's one thing special in the restaurant that I find is a must have whenever I visit the shop. The gravy mixture is so good that by the end of the day, the plate is wiped clean! Take note though that this dish is not available everyday, but we wouldn't know which specific day that its not available...

Betty's isn't just famous for pork chops; the pork ribs here are also a force to be reckoned with! For this meal we had another customer favourite, the Baby Back Ribs (RM 32.50). The dessert menu at Betty's is very simple, to the point where there is only Bread Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream or Apple Crumble with Vanilla Ice Cream (RM 8), or just scoops of different flavours of Bud's Ice Cream. We have never tried the bread pudding, but that's because we've always loyally stuck by the apple crumble - it's become a bit of a routine, really.

The crumble is moist and very buttery, while the apple mixture edges towards being more sour than sweet. The apple chunks are not overcooked and still have a nice bite to them. Some may not like that the apple mix can end up getting very sticky and gooey though. Cornflakes are sprinkled on the top, giving an extra crunch to the crumble as well. We also love the vanilla ice cream used - very creamy and milky.

Second on the list of must-tries is the Pork Chop with Country Gravy (RM 23). There are 2 other sauces to choose from on the menu (orange cream and apples), but we find their signature country gravy to be the best! The gravy is actually the same one used in the Dog Food, so if you order the Dog Food and this Pork Chop you're actually getting a double dosage of the same sauce. Again, the sauce tastes extremely rich, silky and creamy, a great match with the juicy, tender pork chop. If you don't re

If you don't really fancy so much creamy goodness in your food then don't attempt this combination.

But that's not all! The mash potato is worth a mention. The mash is well-seasoned with just the right amount of salt and pepper and also perfectly pounded into a silky soft texture, with only small hints of sediment or chunks of potato inside. But the real secret lies in eating it with the country gravy - absolutely appetizingly awesome!

First on the list of must-trys at Betty's is this serving of fries called Dog Food (RM 9)! I know I know.. the name doesn't exactly have a very tempting ring to it, but it does make people curious, and trust me when I say it's worth trying! This starter basically only consists of fries, but it is soaked in their signature country gravy and cheese melted on top. I know it sounds simple, but you must try the fries together with the sauce to know what a good combination it makes. The sauce is extremely decadent and creamy, and the addition of cheese makes the whole thing extremely rich. The fleshy fries are lovely too, thickly cut which enables it to absorb the cream gravy all up. Oh, and it is also served on a round metal dish to complete the presentation of "dog food"!

A sticky concoction of apples & moist buttery crumble.

And finally after packing in all that country gravy and baby back ribs, we find ourselves still trying to put away some dessert.

As you can see from the picture, each portion is served with 2 big scoops of ice-cream, something very rare in restaurants these days. As for the apple crumble, be prepared to be served something out of apple crumble norm. At Betty's, their version of apple crumble is stickier and more gooey, and there are even cornflakes added into the mix. The gooey texture of the apple crumble takes some getting used to and is honestly not everyone's cup of tea, but for 8 bucks I think we're getting a very good deal.

Grill pork belly (RM24). The pork belly came with french fries, coleslaw and apple dipping sauce. This pork belly almost tasted the same as the soft ribs. The meat was charred nicely and it was tender. The serving was huge, 3 slabs of pork belly. The pork belly was half fats and half meat. I ate one whole slab together with the fats, and cut out all the fats for the other 2 slabs. Too much fats / cholesterol to be taken in a meal.

Pork chop with mushroom gravy (RM20). The pork chop was served with mashed potatoes, beans and a little bit of onions. The pork chop was a bit on the tough side, but it was big piece no doubt. The pork chop was flooded with creamy mushroom gravy. The gravy was so irresistible! I wiped the plate clean. I just wish the pork chop could be more tender. The mashed potatoes were awesome too, buttery and creamy.

Grill Soft Ribs (RM25.50). These ribs were grilled to slightly burned and the meat was very tender, until the meat dropped off from the bone easily. The ribs were well-marinated and we dont need to dip into the sauce to get some taste. By the way, I dont quite like the apple sauce though. Betty's is a humble little setup, it always have long Q during peak dining hours.

Betty's Midwest Kitchen provides a comfortable ambiance which I think it's a suitable place for a fine dining with reasonable price. The staffs there are very good as well. This pork chop with country gravy is under pork chops in the menu. The pork chop is pan-fried then served with gravy and green peas and house mash potatoes. For me, the pork chop is a bit hard and dry. Yet, the house mash potatoes is very tasty with its own special gravy. This portion is just nice for dinner.
